Madrigals ASB Essay:Why should we be a club?

Madrigals

The purpose of Madrigals is to bring music to the community.  Madrigals educates students on musicals notes, arrangements, harmony, and sight singing. Madrigals is the most prestigious choir group on campus, meant for the most talented singers who wish to learn and improve their musical abilities.

Over this past year Madrigals took part in the Homecoming Parade, building the Pop-mobile float. Madrigals put on the annual Holiday Performance in December to get students in the holiday spirit with the second period assembly and the free night performance. We sang live for the KUSI Songs of the Holiday Season special which represented our school’s performing arts abilities. We put on the Broadway Talent Show which featured not only the Madrigals, but allowed other students to show off their many talents.  Madrigals sold bread sticks at Food Fair giving the chance for students to be cultured with multi-cultural foods.  Next year Madrigals plans to take part in all of the above.  Next fall Madrigals plans to take part in an October music festival in Santa Barbra where trained vocalists will teach us how to improve our voices and allow us to show our skills in a competition. We plan to sell Jamba Juice and Pizza allowed under the California food law to raise money for a new keyboard so we can record a CD with our own equipment.  Madrigals plans to travel to a music festival in San Francisco or Hawaii to compete against schools from all across the country. We also plan to take part in the Annual Stars in Our Eyes concert put on by the La Jolla Rotary Club which provides performing arts students with scholarships for college.

Madrigals has been around since the 1960s with generations of students and their parents taking part in it. It is a La Jolla High School tradition and brings pride to La Jolla High by taking part in community functions. Madrigals benefits La Jolla High because it keeps the musical arts alive in the students’ education. Madrigals also shares the Viking spirit at Pep-Rallies by leading the students in the Alma Mater and the National Anthem. We also leave a great and meaningful impression on the memories of graduation for seniors where we bring tears to the parents eyes when we sing our inspirational songs to support our soon to be alumni. Madrigals is an important part of La Jolla High School and should be allowed to educate and inspire students with the beauty of music next year.
