SAN FRANCISCO---HERE WE COME!
Our annual Madrigal/Jazz/Band festival trip is to the San Francisco area, May 15-18, 2009. We will be performing at the Music in the Parks festival in Santa Clara, Ca on Sat. May 16th. We will be at the Great America Theme Park on Sat. May 16th, 2009 for the awards ceremony following our morning performance.
Our plans include visiting Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, and Alcatraz Island while in San Francisco on Sun., May. 17th. We will be flying to San Jose, Fri, May. 15 on an early morning flight. Our hotel is located in Santa Clara near the festival location. We will do some sightseeing in the San Jose area, visiting the Winchester Mystery House also. We will return home on Monday, May 18th.
The approximate cost of the trip is $660. We have been working with EPN travel who schedules with the Music in the Parks festival organization. Their proposed cost with all festival, theme park, hotel, meals and sightseeing is $500. We can not get an exact cost for our airline flight with Southwest Airlines until January, but I have estimated $160. This is a little higher than the flights at this time. They told me they are having specials right now, but weren’t sure of the cost in May.
As all of you know we have been diligently fundraising to help reduce the cost for each student. We will continue to fundraise throughout this year. We hope that we will cut the cost at least by half but it’s up to the students that want to work hard enough to do that.
At this time we need a commitment from each student that is planning to go on the trip with a deposit of $100. I need to send EPN travel the deposit by Dec. 5,2008 as they will be securing our hotel and other tickets needed in San Francisco.
Please be aware that once we start paying for the trip it is very difficult to refund monies. Please discuss this with your student and clear calendar dates now. We hope that all the students enrolled in these classes will be able to attend this fun and educational trip.
